This was my 3rd trip to Paris on a strict gluten free diet and can I say much has changed since my first GF visit. Though, of course, much has also changed since my 1st trip to the city of lights, where I could dine where ever I chose but hey whoa is life for us Celiac folks. Anywho... Paris is the answer! There are bakeries and restaurants abound that cater specifically to gluten free patrons or that offer alternative gluten free menus. Honestly, I am a tad obsessed with trying GF food in Paris. There is something special about how the French handle gluten free baking. Their technique and products are much more delicate, moist, and delicious than anything I have had stateside.
Chambelland is a new kid on the block to the Parisian gluten free world and it does not disappoint. Offering custom breads and pastries this place is an absolute must try for anyone gluten free or not. I'm so glad I wasn't dissuaded from trying Chambelland by the long line. It's certainly worth the wait. We had the lunch menu item which included, a sandwich or soup, a pastry, and a beverage for only 10 euro! You really can't beat that price for that amount of quality food. I went with an avocado sandwich, a citrus tart, and a lemonade. The combination was divine. If you're in Paris please give this place a try. Trust me it's darn good!
